I have to disagree as to how well Cedega works,...

I have MANY titles working in Cedega/WineX:
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic
Jedi Academy
Homeworld 2 (Single Player)
X-Wing
TIE Fighter
X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter
WingCommander (Win95 edition)
Master of Orion 3
Pax Imperia Eminent Domain
Independence War
Jedi Knight
Fallout 1 & 2
Starfleet Command Orion Pirates (skirmish)
... and that's the short list,...

I think Cedega works fine. The Pthreads issue is solved with a simple command line switch... pthreads=yes or pthreads=no.

Then it may depend on which games are played.

I fear that's where Mandrake reins with Cedega....Too bad Mandrake always cuaghed on my Audigy all the way to the latest version and amoung other problems with drivers and kernel compiling it reeks...But the last time I ran winex 3.3 Dungoen Siege ran beautfully even if I could not hear it I could play it with only alittle gap in graphics....My suggestion is to follow tend with MD, goto Transgaming and have them advise in devlopment if SuSe/Novell has any desires to look into it.

I got Cedega, not WineX, and I think it works pretty good. I got Warcraft III, Steam Counter-Strike, Jedi Outcast, and Baldur's Gate II, and any other game I threw at it working on it. I didn't even have to do any configuring. I don't use Point2Play. I just installed a Cedega RPM, and associated .exe files to open with Cedega and made links to those .exe on my Desktop. Performace is solid, just make sure you have a capable system. I have a Dell Inspiron 8100 with 1.2 GHz PIII processor, 256 MB RAM, and nVidia GeForce2 Go 32 MB Video Card.

A lot of stuff that used to run pretty well no longer does... it's a common complaint on the boards that every new release breaks previously-working games.

I subscribed for a while, but eventually decided it wasn't worth it. They release pretty slowly as well... you're better off never subscribing for more than 3 months at a time (the minimum).
