Are You Addicted To Nethack?

Nethack!

I've just started playing this from konsole without any add-on graphics.. Ascii mode! hahaahahahah! And it ROCKS! It's so addictive! Has or does anyone else play it? If so, are or were you ever addicted to it?

It's so addictive!!! It's crazy!!! How to break the addiction or become a cave troll and devote the remainder of my life to nethack?!!!! Gotta go play it again!

You never know, everybody might be playing it now...lol. I haven't tried it so I can't comment.

I played it only a few times, never got too much into it as I feared that I could get addicted

I have resolved, as a result of this thread, to start playing. With any luck, I'll get addicted, get booted out of graduate school, default on my mortgage because I lost my assistantship, which would likely cause my wife to hit the road, I'll turn to a life of crime, end up in prison with a romantically inclined cell mate, and be sold for a pack of cigarettes.

Maybe I should rethink this...

Somehow I have the wish to try it again..

No write permission to lock /var/games/nethack/perm!

That's the message I receive ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ after I installed the nethack files via YaST and tried to run it from CLI with just "nethack". How can I get it to work?

With my last SuSE 9.1 Pro instal I just installed the .rpm from the nethack website but this time I decided to use YaST and install additional X packages as well... but it's not working! Help? Anyone else discover this error?

just chmod /var/games/nethack so that you can write it as normal user.
Or chown it to your work user
