well I allready read the other post concerning ut2004 issues and I cant seem to find my problem, anyways

I have the dvd edition of Ut2004, so I tried to install it on my SuSE 8.2, and everything seems to work fine, until it starts copying the files, in the shell window it says:

mount: /dev/sr0 already mounted or /mnt/cdrom busy
mount: according to mtab, /dev/sr0 is already mounted on /mnt/cdrom
Unmounting device /dev/cdrecorder

and then a window appears saying the following: "please incert Unreeal Tournament 2004 play disc"

& click ok but the same repeats, I try remounting my dvd but nothing happens

any thoughts??

I'm confused why it is erroring on a cd-burner and not a dvd drive. Do you have a separate cd-writer installed or is your dvd-drive a burner as well?

no, My optical drive is a cd burner and a dvd reader as well, but suse idetifies it as "cd recorder"
so dont know why it identifies it as /dev/sr0 instead of /dev/hdc

ok, I've been trying to look for other ways to do this, but I dont know why it marks that my optical drive is busy here is the outpput:
mount: /dev/sr0 already mounted or /mnt/cdrom busy
mount: according to mtab, /dev/sr0 is already mounted on /mnt/cdrom
mount: /dev/sr0 already mounted or /mnt/cdrom busy
mount: according to mtab, /dev/sr0 is already mounted on /mnt/cdrom

Then in the window it says: "Please mount the UT2k4 ploay disk"

I've tries pretty much everything I can, but it seems that the problem is that Suse mounts optical drives to /media even though I changed this to mount it to /mnt/cdrom keeps showing the message.

very simple (hope it works in DVD edition the same way ). You have to set an environment variable called SETUP_CDROM and let it point to your DVD drive.

So e.g.:
export SETUP_CDROM=/media/dvd

should do the job. I had exactly the same error with the CD version!

well Thank you for the advice Vir@s but that didnt seem to make any difference...

It still tells me /dev/sr0 is allready mounted or busy

any other suggestions?

What export did you run? You have to point it to the mount-path AFAIK, not to the device. So e.g.:

export SETUP_CDROM=/mnt/cdrom

Or did you already do that?

In addition try to copy the linux-installer.sh file to your harddisk and NOT run it from the DVD directly.

Okay I read on the net that there seems to be a problem with the automounter used by SuSE.

Disable the automounter and mount the DVD manually. Then start the installation again!
