Any Software to reduce size of DVD down to 4.7 G

I have a double layer burner but no double layer blanks.
I would like to copy larger DVD's even, if reducing quality by reducing the size to fit on a single layer DVD.

Thanks

Where did you get the image? The one distributed by openSUSE.org is only about 4GB.

I think the OP is referring to video DVDs.

In that case, k9copy is one to check out. It will rip and shrink.

Hi

Thanks for your help.

Yes Video DVD, I will try K3b - not sure how the shrinking is done. Is it auto by choosing the size of image in the setup?

I will try now.

Thanks

Read my post again--I wrote k9copy, not k3b.

Last time I checked, k3b didn't shrink on its own; it only burns. You might be able to hook something up, but you really will be making more work for yourself.

Use k9copy to create the backup, and then burn the backup with k3b.

And yes, there are options to control the shrink factor in k9copy. The default will give you a 4.3 GB image.

Hi

Sorry i wrote k3b but meant k9b.

The first attempt - I made an iso and burnt it in K3b - plays but last few sections missing.

Tried copying using the same dvd and it transferred to K3b, but would not open dvd drawer and left the information in tmp/kde-marchant/ which i have erased.

I will try again and burn a iso to the desktop. Then use K3b to burn the iso?

Thanks

DVD shrink seems to run in Wine: http://www.mrbass.org/linux/ubuntu/dvdshrink/
And have a look at K9copy: http://k9copy.sourceforge.net/

Hi

Thanks for that.

The second time. I used K9 and made an ISO on the desktop. I then used K3 to make the dvd with the ISO and all was fine this time.

Thanks Guys
