How do I disable system beep?
How do I make everything open with a double click rather than single click?
How do I add new keyboard shortcuts?
Where do i get more widgets? For example, a keyboard layout switcher would be REALLY nice.
How can I miltiple-select desktop items? (or can I?)
How do I make the task manager (i.e. panel window list) display windows in 2 rows format?
How can I completely hide that dashboard thing in the top right corner?

My first experience with KDE 4 and all the configuration is sooo difficult to find

P.S. Oh and before I forget, my desktop widgets don't wanna rotate for some reason, that rotation button just doesnt work ;( what am i doing wrong?

If you look through system-settings, you should be able to find options there. For keyboard shortcuts, you'll have to use the "Advanced Tab".

Give plasma a little bit more time to develop. If you have the /Extras repo enabled, you can install extragear-plasma, which will give you some additional widgets, but the plasma engine is changing slightly for 4.1+, so you probably won't see a wide variety of functional widgets until then.

How can I miltiple-select desktop items? (or can I?)

TBH, I don't think you can. The desktop items operate somewhat differently under KDE4, they're actually a collection of individual widgets. I disable them myself, but similar to my above point, the desktop will evolve as plasma evolves.

How do I make the task manager (i.e. panel window list) display windows in 2 rows format?
    [/b]
If you right click the task bar for properties or settings, you should be able to increase the size. IIRC, the window items should move to multiple rows once enough are open and space is an issue. I believe ththat patch was moved into 4.0.x packages.

How can I completely hide that dashboard thing in the top right corner?

A frequent comment, and right now you can't. It's been a bit of an issue back and forth, but right now the devs aren't planning on removing it.

Remember that KDE4 is new, so it won't have the same granular configuration capability that KDE3 had, but give it time...

P.S. Oh and before I forget, my desktop widgets don't wanna rotate for some reason, that rotation button just doesnt work ;( what am i doing wrong?

Not sure on that, you may have to file a bug?

    Hope this helps...

    1. Control panel > Notifications > Sistem Notifications> Programs tab > KDE system notifications > disable sound for 'Acess'
    2. Control panel > Keyboard & mouse > mouse > enable double clic (in icons)
    3. the same > keyboard shortcuts
    4. No need for that: you can have multiple keyboard layers enables at the same time: region and language > enable the layer you want; a flag icon will appear in the system tray to change layouts
    5. don't know
    6. not possible yet
    7. interesting point: fill a bug; not implemented, i think

about the widgets, I've never had problems with that. report a bug at kde or novell

This is the closest I've seen in any thread on how to use plasma. I would like to get the "basics" somewhere. Aren't there directions or how-to's anyplace?

Things that should be simple seem hard or impossible. For example, I added a app but when I drag it to the desktop, I can't change its icon to reflect what it is. I'm sure I'll figure it out, but if we want to try things to file bug reports, we should at least have a starting place.
