i just was browsing folders, as i'm new to linux and want to learn the setup, and i noticed that in /usr/lib/codecs this folder contains what seems to be regular windows .dll files, i was wondering if i ported some other dll codecs from a windows machine if kaffine would find and use them, and thereby be able to play content previously unplayable

i have the same question for the /usr/lib/realplayer10/codecs folder

could i port reaplayer10 codecs over?

No need to port it over. Just read this and work your way through it. You will have all the multi-media support you need.

yeah i did all that but the new 720p encoding done through windows media wasn't supported still, the reason for this is the .dll included with the win32-all codec for the hi-def output was an old version and a new version got released in 2006, anyway, i got the new dll, put it in and it works fine now, hi-def and all playing in mplayer
