I have been fiddling with things and am now at a place where i have no idea how to fix it! Lol...

1. When i goto shut down it keeps asking me to log out, i don't know how to get it back to Shutdown rather than log out!!!!

2. I posted an earlier thread about not getting sound with my CD's and now i can't get any sound at all!!

Any help on this would be cool!!!!

hm, I can't really help for your first problem but the second one could have several causes! First of all, do you have a Envy24 Chip? If not, then your channels are probably muted and you should unmoute them with "alsamixer" first (just execute it in the console, works fine in textmode!).

you only get shutdown options if you use login/windowmanager like kdm, if you login from console, you need to logout (that question can be turned off) and from there as root you can halt or reboot your system

For the audio, try using kmix instead of kamix. You could also try using the gnome volume manager. All can be found under the multimedia menu.

Though I am new to SuSe, and probably won't be using it long, in most cases, you can go to any terminal prompt, including a GUI terminal box, and type:

shutdown -h now <enter>

and it will shut down. If you wish instead to reboot, it is

shutdown -r now

apologies if I completely misunderstand the question, it will be neither the first nor the last time,
