Ok, because I think this was an important question and that, although it is an English board and it seems fair to request that the poster do so in English, the topic shouldn't have been closed I have reposted along similar lines.

The question, as I understand it, is what distributions have Spanish language support. I guess that SuSE menus et al are still mostly in English when Spanish is chosen. I'd also like to know as I've created some computers for El Centro por los Trabajadores and would like to use a Spanish language distro.

ofvergara, please repost your original question in English.

anthro398, had this been a first post, I would have been far more tolerant. However, when someone has posted 50 times he pretty much knows this is an English board. In the future, if someone is serious about getting answers, they should post in English. That's just how it's gonna be...well until it changes, of course.

I agree with kastorff.

In my case, I'm Brazilian (we speak Portuguese), but I speak Spanish and English no problem.

Anyways, Suse is from Germany, imagine what would happen if they start posting in German... Would be a nice reason to learn a forth language, hum?

Ok, back to the question, the best candidate I know is Conectiva, very popular in Brazil and they have nice Spanish support too.

In my opinion, it's better than Suse but lacks support for many tools. So it uses only 3 CDs.

It's more close to Fedora but has full support for DVDs, MP3, and Nvidia cards play sweet! It uses apt/synaptic for managing RPMs.

The best link I know is
ftp://ftp.unicamp.br/pub/Conectiva/iso/

I forgot... I agree with anthro398, the topic shouldn't have been closed !!

Think is perfectly possible to ask the poster to rewrite in English.

i tried, but the topic is closed/locked now.

anyway, does anyone know about a distro entirely in spanish?

for example, i read somewhere months ago about a distro made is spain in a spanish university, and they were giving this distro away for download.

at the time it seemed of no importance to me and didn't download it (besides, my suse is english only and i like it this way).

however, when i showed my suse to friends and peers they said it was very pretty and would like to try but ONLY if this distro was in spanish (they don't use english at all in their computers, even their instant messaging programs are in spanish!) and suse personal mixes english & spanish (yet it's more english than spanish) when you choose the language install as spanish.

can you help me recall about these spanish-only distros?

h34r:
thanks for your support
bye

How much of your SuSE is in Spanish? Are menus and such things in Spanish? I have 9.1 Pro, can I switch to Spanish and back to English to check it out or do I have to install another system?

Okay, okay, so no one liked my method of asking that the post be posted in English, and closing the topic to make sure it was...I get the message.

Just keep in mind there are a lot of members, a lot of posts, not many folks around to monitor things, and we have to move very fast to have enough time to review most of the posts. We're also trying to help others when we can. I spend hours a day trying to make this a great place to come for help. I believe in Linux, and am trying to do what I can as a volunteer.

I apologize if I've offended anyone in that effort.

I have SuSE 9.1 in spanish, and almost everything is in spanish, some programs are in english, but you can choose to change it to spanish.

And I agree, we all have to write in english, english is the international language.
I get really frustrated when I take a look at SuSE mailing lists, forums, or anything else and it's in german. ARRRGGGGGGG!!!

I'm from Uruguay, so I'm a native spanish speaker, I also know portuguese and of course english.
