Im having this problem of saving passwords such as the smtp password for kmail in to the configureation file. Kmail is not the only problem im having with svaing settings, I have asked yast to save the password and it asks me each time i want to change settings. Xchat is a 3rd, i have to load scripts up each time i open up xchat. I have checked permissions and user is allowed to write. Can anyone help?
Thanks |

This sounds more like a problem of your KDE Installation, since KMail password, the Yast (root) password, etc. are all stored by KDE.
Did you check the permissions in your home-directory (especially the ".kde" directory)? Maybe you have some permission issues there? |

I just check them again they show .kde as drwx------ and all files and folders inside are. when you mentioned kde might not have been installed right i went to see if i was missing something. i scrolled through the packages and for kde3admin. This was not installed and was suppose to have something to do with setting and configuration. If anything else could be put on this suject would be helpful.
thanks again PS just tried kde3admin, this was the problem. i put pass in yast check the save pass and closed it and reopened. never asked for my pass. thanks for pointing me in right direction. |
