guys,

When I try to use "autoconf" on a very simple "Hello World" C program, I type autoscan, and then I get this:

autom4te: configure.ac: no such file or directory
autoscan: /usr/bin/autom4te failed with exit status: 1

My system is SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10.1.

I am not familiar with autoconf, automake, etc. Does anybody know how to solve this?

Thanks in advance.

Oh man, prepare yourself for a very steep learning curve. Here, try this tutorial:

http://www.amath.washington.edu/~lf/tutorials/autoconf/

But if you do get it right, you can produce packages that will autoconf on major Linux and Unix platforms, and some others like cygwin, including some platforms you may not even know exist.
