Well I am a complete noob to the world of linux, that being said I must say I'm loving opensuse 10.3 on my playstation 3.
I've tried all the others and this is the best solution for a "media station" I have found.
it cuts through movies and mp3's like butter.
I was also able to setup an external 3.5 1 terabyte raid 0 esata array and run linux and the game os nicely. only hitch was I had to power down the drives manually when switching between os's.
now I have just reverted back to the internal 2.5 200gb drive for practicality and will use the 1 TB raid in a usb external connection.
I just wanted to see who else is out there who might also be running opensuse on their ps3. I have a lot of questions and maybe some answers for some of you..who knows.
look forward to getting the ball rolling here.
has anyone used dvdrip on their ps3?
what commands to map the cd/dvd drive?
can i make this automount like the external usb drive does?
it doesnt show up under media, only the ext usb drive.

Hope I'm not alone out here??

Edit the /etc/kboot.conf file (as root) and add one of the following to the startup line (the one with the boot string, initrd, etc.):

for 720p normal:

video=ps3fb:mode:3

for 720p filled screen add 128 as:

video=ps3fb:mode:131

for 1080i

video=ps3fb:mode:4

(or add 128 for mode 132)
