I am wanting to see how SUSE 10.1 runs on my Mac Mini G4. At the moment I am downloading the disks.

I will be installing on a external LaCie mini drive which is fire wire so system can boot off this drive.

What confuses me is the boot loader ? Also I read I must reload OS X, this is not needed if I install on a seperate drive ?

To install SUSE 10.1 correct me correct me if wrong.

I need to boot off the CD with using "C" after the start up chime.

Then the system starts off the CD asks me install questions eg where to install etc........

I select my LaCie drive SUSE 10.1 installs to that drive ?

Then installs "LILO" on the drive with my OS X ?

Then at start up I will see a screen giving me option of which system to boot up ?

Thank you Scott

also where is "LILO" installed on my drive with OS X what directory ?

Is "LILO" easaly removed & my OS X will be like before ?

I was looking around some of my local forums & a fella had just posted about a program called Q. I took a look to my finding I discovered it had pre-configured SUSE 10.0 RC1 virtual machine.

So I have decided to give it a go, hopefully it will run fairly well & be updatable. I tried building my own SUSE virtual machine in GuestPC but it failed.

One does have to wonder if I have jumped into the deep end of the pool before learning to swim.
