Did you install alsa-firmware and also alsa-tools? (reboot afterward). Did you try to configure your sound with YaST > Hardware > Sound > Edit?

If that did not work, did try running (with root permissions) in a konsole: bash tsalsa
Then post the URL here. ...

I'm using openSUSE 10.3 on my mac mini g4. It works great!

It works here too, but i installed alsa 1.016 from source after installing 10.3 PPC, including all the usual alsa extras.
(See my post about snd-powermac for a possible solution to no sound, or modules not working from boot for OLDER g4's and hw...)
