HI,
I was tring to improve my video setting and was in that yast config hardware and managed to set my resolution to 1200/1000 or soemthing like that and this caused a video failure and while testing it didn't time out like it normally does. So I have the wrong settings installed and don't know how to change them without doing a new instal again .. DUH.. is there an easy way to stop the boot and change the setting during boot up... I tried that safe mode it works but its strickly in verbose.

Boot up in safe mode, at the command prompt logon as user , then su, root password, then enter 'sax2' (no quotes). you can then access your display settings.

I don't recall seeing a list that's SuSE specific. It would make a good thread if you were to start one in the General forum.

HI,
Well I had to reinstal the screen black in the SU mode, and I reinstalled and finally had everything configured and running did a boot to check, and it went black again.
my ATI may be the cause I think its causing problems.
I don't want over heat the board there's more than one post about fan failures.
So I'll say ADO for now and try again in 6mos after the dust settles.

OK, good luck. There is a way to install the ATI driver from a command prompt, but it's up to you.
