Trying to run the Live CD versions on my notebook, that is an HP Pavilion ZV5410us and each time I try to load, if I monitor the command line loading, right after it asks does
-----> Mounting CD/DVD drive I get -----> Couldn't find CD image configuration file -----> rebootException: error consoles at Alt-F3/F4 -----> rebootException: reboot in 120 sec... Checked the other consoles, and not finding much other information. Any ideas, as I'm stuck now, and I want to give this a go ahead as it looks terrific and most live CD's such as the buntu's and Mandriva's of the world boot fine. |

Just as a note, I've read many saying bad burn, bad burn, but I don't think that's it. It happens to both my KDE and Gnome CD's and that is pretty unlikely, as so many other distributions work fine. This happened with Mandriva 2007.1 Spring, as it just didn't work, something to do with the kernel I think. Any ideas? The only thing I think that will work, and that I don't really care for, is waiting to download the installation DVD, which I've started, but would love to stop if anyone has any ideas.

The two don't jive. The LiveCd has a linuxrc in initrd that wants to look back to the CD drive for it's packages. The only way to get a LiveCD to work on a usb-HDD is to apply "Portable SUSE" @ http://en.opensuse.org/Portable_SUSE (be careful as it will rewrite all your install(s) initrd(s); follow the guide). |

Hmmm...but it's not a usb-hdd. It's a USB DVD reader/writer. It's the optical drive that is dead in my notebook. Maybe I'm not following? Any help would be appreciated.

The theory is still the same, linuxrc of the initrd of an openSUSE LiveCD is programmed to look back at a pci device. Can you enter the BIOS and set it to boot from usb-device & retry. If that doesn't work, my recommendation is to download the install DVD which should have the device drivers for you to complete the install. Should you have problems, use the back button and set the install device Then there's http://en.opensuse.org/Installation_without_CD |

Install DVD works fine, I was just curious about the live version. No worries. Now just to mess with my broadocm drivers.
Thanks for the response.Quote:
