I installed 11 b3 from gnome cd on my vaio vgn-fs740, did some small fixes to the resolution (now is 1280x800), upgraded ntfs-3g and mounted ntfs partitions with permissions. After installed i upgraded to almost everythig even the kernel. Don't upgrade the kernel from factory repo, it doesn' boot (see previous topic).
Everything is perfect for now except small bugs: system time(incorrect), drag'n drop (crashes smt) and the partition table has some errors (it tells me i've mounted a ntfs disk of 60Gb when it's 56Gb; but i have any problem with this)
Only these 3 small bugs for me, Bye

so far KDE4 is proving itself to be good, although 4.1 should fix the few issues I have with it. Overall opensuse team did a great job, can't wait to see the final product. Although the time thing is VERY annoying.

Alternatively, only update a kernel with the "rpm -ivh kernel-default-...rpm" command. That way one keeps the old kernel. There is a detailed how-to on this forum somewhere.

Having typed that, I have Major problems with all 11.0 kernels since alpha3. 75% to 80% of kernel boots immediately freeze on my test PC. Only beta2 worked ok, and it was immediately broken on beta3. I wrote bug reports, and purportedly it will be fixed in RC1 to be released on 29-May-08.

Edit - This test PC has sucessfully run 9.3, 10.0, 10.1, 10.2 and 10.3 with no kernel problems whatsoever.

What's the issue with system time? I'm on 11.0, and have no problems with my clock?

Am I doing something wrong...?

Cheers,
KV

If i use NTP to sync my time to the US "atomically correct" time it will often times be completely wrong.

I'm currently extracting my foot from my mouth, because after updating from factory last night, I resumed my laptop today to find the time exactly 4 hours behind. And that's without NTP synching.

Oh well, in the overall scheme of things, there are far worse things that have happened after factory updates...

Cheers,
KV

i saw that even the timezone has updates from factory, so maybe restoring ntp and timezone from the iso dvd fixes it.
I'll try
