Hi All!
I installed 11 b3 from live CD. The installation went well. I then enabled the default repos in Yast, 4 of them all. Then I clicked on online update. There was over 600 Mb of update available including one kernel patch. I installed them all. It took over 5 hrs with my lite broad band. After completion of update before restart, I ran mkinitrd in command console as I had read somewhere in this forum needed for a new kernel installation. Anyway, now at start-up when I select open suse 11 at boot screen the system stalls without booting up and I'd have to shut it down manually. However, open suse failsafe is responsive and leads me to command line log on. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. |

This is like the 14th post I've seen on this in 2 days, Are the Opensuse guys even aware of whats going on, I mean I updated packages everyday during alpha 2-3 and up to Beta 3 and didn't encounter a single problem (maybe a bad package install, just updated it later) Now it seems like they killed a lot of machines and haven't said anything about it.
Anyways, boot without your splash in verbose mode and tell us what the error is, if it's like the one in THIS thread then your in the same boot I was in, Luckily I can do 64 bit, which doesn't seem affected by whatever this issue is. Anyways I'm going to search some bug reports and mailing lists. EDIT: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=393108 |

Is the posted beta3 iso for download being updated regularly to eliminate the bugs and incorporate the new kernel? Or am I supposed to go thru the same upgrading process again? Or any suggestions? Thank you! |

you have to update to HEAD Kernel 2.6.25.4-7-default http://download.opensuse.org/reposit...nSUSE_Factory/
it installs with both pae and xen but for now is perfect. Remember that these are factory updates (not completely stable), if you leave just opensuse repo it does'nt tell you to update the kernel. Hope this helps |
