So when you say "Set that up as a yast-source" do you mean add the url http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/...enSUSE_Factory/ as a software repository?

Bring up the link above in a new tab Yast > Software Repositories > Add Select "http" Name: ZYPP Cut & past from the link Server Name: download.opensuse.org Directory on Server: repositories/zypp:/svn/openSUSE_Factory/ Accept It will go thru the process of updating the metadata & keys; accept (while you are there, turn on the other repos OSS, etc., add Packman, other 11.0 repos, etc., from http://en.opensuse.org/YaST_package_repository) when its done: select "Software Manager" in the filter, select "repositories" > then ZYPP in the right window, right click on any "blue" package > "All in this list > Update if newer version available Accept Let it do its thing, the last of which will be "SuSEconfig" Close out of everything logout/login Now go back to Yast > S/W Mngt > filter > repos > patterns You should have neat icons for each package area Me, I turn on quite a bit starting with C/C++, Intergated Development, kernel development, Rpm Build. Qt, & web devel, etc. Then I know I have all the packages needed for compiling without having to go thru the list & find them one-by-one. (Also, I turn on 32-bit envionment & console tools, etc., to have those handy). I usually have a 5.5 GB install from scratch. Have fun |

there seems to be an issue with the new kernel, sou would update all except for the kernel packages (the kernel itself, source files and xen related kernels). I'm running the update now myself, if it hoses I'll report back... Cheers, Wj |

You can try the "repair" function on the install DVD; do the file check part. If something is missing or doesn't satisfy dependencies, it will fix them. Takes a while though. It may be faster to do a clean install. You can also try booting to runlevel 3 (type "3" at the bootsplash); login as root & then type "yast". With that Yast, you need to navigate with the arrow & tab keys. Select CD/DVD as the repro and select the early versions of Yast & go from there, reboot. Good luck... |
