Hello everyone,
I am trying to connect to my wireless network , but so far no results. I used to be able to do so, but at some point i started having problems. when i opened the pc i sometimes had to wait several minutes before connecting to my network. for some time i couldn't even see the gateway, I now bought a new wireless router, but the problem got worse. now i can't see the gateway at all. ping 192.168.1.1 gives me "Network is unreachable". i have reinstalled the ralink driver several times, but nothing, iwconfig wlan0 (which is the interface created) gives me : wlan0 RT2500 Wireless ESSID:"......" Nickname:"......." Mode:Managed Frequency=2.412 GHz Bit Rate:11 Mb/s Tx-Power:0 dBm RTS thr ff Fragment thr ffEncryption key:............................... Security mode:restricted Link Quality=0/100 Signal level:-120 dBm Noise level:-99 dBm Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0 Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0 while trying to use wifi-radar gives me a list of networks, including mine, and says "connected to ... (my network) ip none)". trying to connect using windows i had no problem. i am not using network manager, and i am using the same configuration i was when everything was working (or, at least, i think i am - in order to be having a problem something must have changed) If anyone has any idea where the problem could be i would be very thankful |

I am using the same RaLink 2500. However, you must enable KNetworkManager.
Try the following: 1. Start Yast ->Network Devices and click on Network Card 2. Select your card name and click on the Configure button and then the General Tab 3a. Under Firewall Zone - select External Zone 3b. Under Device Control, click on a check mark This will enable Device Control for Non-root User Via KInternet 4. Clicking on the Next button will take you to Wireless Device Settings 5. Enter your ESSID name, choose the Authentication Mode and enter you Key 6. Click on the Next and Finish buttons and reboot |
