Hi there,

I have installed the latest released version of openSUSE, 10.3 or so, and I am having an issue getting the internet to work.

The system tells me that I am connected to my wireless network, but firefox does not browse, indicating that it cannot find the network.

I'm totally stumped because if my wireless network is connected, why can't I browse?

I would appreciate some assistance, because I am at my wits end...

Thanks

From a console enter: ping www.google.com

Do you get any error messages? If so, what are they?

If you can't ping Google, do:

su <enter>
<password> <enter>
ifconfig

What is the output of ifconfig?

Are you using any kind of encryption on the wireless network?

I eventually discovered what the issue was by following your troubleshooting tips. There was no nameserver configured in the etc/resolv.conf. So I simply added that line with the IP of my default gateway and it worked...

I do appreciate your assistance..

Thanks a bunch
