hi,
I tried to do this right. I followed Andrew's tutorial to the letter.http://www.andrewd18.com/ndiswrapper This is a dual boot system with Vista and suse 10.3. I was able to locate a driver for my wireless for XP, from the manufacturer of my system (HP pavillion d4990y). That driver installed fine with ndisgtk. The driver is for chipset AR2416, this is Atheros. (I have an XP driver because ndiswrapper does not currently support Vista drivers.) I was able to add the wireless in YaST with seemingly no problems. One thing that might be wrong is that the instructions say set the module name to ndiswrapper. I did that but when I look in YaST at the module name in the kernel it is always blank, no matter how many times I set it to 'ndiswrapper'. lsmod shows ndiswrapper on the left hand side, but the modules are listed on the right so I think it may not be loaded. ndiswrapper is listed in /lib/modules/<kernelvers>/blacklist.modules.unsupported. But ndiswrapper is in the /lib/modules/updates directory. iwconfig shows no wireless at all, as does ifconfig. This might be a problem with ndiswrapper. My version of ndiswrapper is 1.47-32, on 10.3 suse. thanks! |
