I'm perplexed. I have just completed a fresh install of opensSUSE 10.3, the system correctly identifies my Linksys WMP54G card, and sets the device as rt61pci. It shows as working even under iwconfig however I am still unable to connect. The system shows as no network connected and no wireless shows up when browsing for wireless networks. Have I missed a step somewhere?

You may still need to configure your wireless interface with YaST > Network Devices > Network Card. Here you can configure settings relevant to your wireless router such as IP address (or DHCP), WEP etc.

If you still have problems post the results of the following commands (as root user):

ifconfig
iwconfig
route

Try running through http://suseforums.net/index.php?showtopic=30424 although it is for 10.2, it should pretty much work for 10.3 also.
