Manual Configuration Of Wireless Network Interface

The manual commands in this article work when used in my Opensuse 10.3 install, but the files referred to and used in Ubuntu e.g. /etc/rc.local don't seem to be present in Opensuse.

I'd like to be able to hand edit the network start up and get away from Netmanager.

I have searched the Suse Forums and can't find equivalent instructions for Opensuse.

Can anyone point me to a reference for this, or fill in the gaps?
