I have my intel pro wireless 3945 installed with the ipw3945 driver. It seems to be installed correctly because it shows up in both ifconfig and iwconfig. In iwconfig it recognizes the the wireless card and even correctly displays the wireless network that is in my area. The problem is that I do not have the ability or know how to make this network connection active. In my network manager, it only shows the wired connection. I am not able to switch to the wireless connection. Also, I can not click on the 'network" tab under network manager. I am very new to linux and don't have any idea what to do. Please help, thanks.

Hi Dave,
Welcome to the forum! As far as the ipw3945 driver goes, the one shipped with openSUSE 10.3 has a bug that was unfortunately fixed after the 10.3 release. Especially when using this driver and Network Manager. Make sure you have applied all the updates before continuing to rule out a faulty driver. Open a terminal console and check your current driver with ' modinfo ipw3945 ' You should be running version 1.2.2dmpr or later. Let us know how you go! Cheers, Wj |
