Thumbs up

Okay, I just installed OpenSUSE (loving it so far!) after having removed Sabayon, which didn't like my video card or CD-Drive.

I have an Intersil Prism 2.5 (rev 01) wireless card with 1.8.2 (WPA enabled) station firmware.

When I booted into the liveCD I couldn't connect to our network. I checked the driver, which turned out to be orinoco_pci. I know this driver has no WPA support (our network uses WPA-PSK) and figured I could install, change the driver to hostap_pci and be done with it.

Herein lies the problem. When I tell it to connect, I can access the network for about 3 seconds before the connection 'dies'. But nm-applet and all the other network tools I have (except iwconfig, which I haven't tried) show it as connected. I cannot access any network resources or the internet, however.

I downloaded openSUSE yesterday and installed it. No other problems. Any help?
