Hello Everyone,

I have the WG111T from NetGear and surprise, surprise................................ cannot get it to work in 10.3 64-bit. I have tried everything I can get my eyes on through the forums and google for the last 48 hrs and still no joy.

I have tried:

Been to Andrews site - tried everything there
Loaded ndiswrapper - latest version
Loaded ndisgtk - latest version
Loaded madwifi -
Messed with all the different settings in Yast > Network Devices > Network Card > Wireless Configurator
Disabled the on-board controller
Disabled the firewall

linux-vihs:~ # lsusb

Bus 002 Device 003: ID 1385:4251
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
linux-vihs:~ # ndiswrapper -l
athfmwdl : driver installed
device (1385:4251) present
netwg11t : driver installed
linux-vihs:~ #

I am truly at my wits end and I generally don't give easily. I am relatively new to linux and I am most likely missing something very simple but, from all that I have been reading about these sticks.................... they seem to be a real PITA to set-up. Could someone be so kind as to help a brother out. This is killing me ....................... I need to get rid of this Ethernet cable running out the back of my PC. : )

Cheers,

David

I'm really bad at this, but I know how I suffered with it, so until a smart person answers try this:

Did you run wlan0up from the terminal?

Did you start knetworkmanager and see if that will start up your card?

You seem to have the driver loaded and it looks like ndiswrapper is running. Did you enable it in System Services?

Did you look at the hardware compatibility site, linked from andrews site to see if anyone has it working.

If all else fails, remember what W.C. Fields said: If at first you don't succeed, try again. Then quit. No sense in making a d*** fool of yourself.

I'm amazed! The software censored that line!

When I go to the Knwmanager all I get is the status of the eth0

I don't see it listed in the system services list?

Did you look at the hardware compatibility site, linked from andrews site to see if anyone has it working.

It seems as though many people have it working but eventhough I follow the exact directions I get nowhere.
