oh well. I tried the 10.3 x86_64 kernel. For others who are in the same boat as me I'll list what happened.
I loaded the rpm with yast and ignored all conflicts. No GUI support upon reloading. I did sax2 with new low res settings. startx as root got me back into KDE. tried to load iwlwifi rpm in yast but it errored saying the respoitory was already loaded. tried rpm -U iwlwifi..... but it needed vmlinux drivers. stuck an ethernet cable in to find drivers, loaded yast to reconfigure NIC. ethernet was found configured and setup. Knetworksmanager didn't find NIC. switched to ifup method, ifup errored with 'bad configuration' Admitted defeat for now, and reloaded the old kernel. I'll wait till 10.3 beta 3 and see's what happens. |

Ditto... I got a new ASUS C90S with the Intel 4965 wifi-mini-pci inside. Even in dual-boot with the Darkside(XP) this wireless card barely functions. I do wish manufacturers would stop strapping in hot-off-the-presses hardware into otherwise functional units. BTW, ubuntu (7.04) does the same thing. There's a great article on how to load it onto a D*ll, but the BIOS' and architecture's seem to be just that different that it's a no-go on the ASUS unit.
Ah, well. Hope springs eternal... bman Quote:
