I am configuring DSL using PPPoE on a fresh installation of Suse 10.3 on Dell PowerEdge SC1420 using eth0 without success.

We have tested the connection on two Windows platforms (XP and Vista) and both succeed in establishing a connection. We also installed an Ethernet card (as eth1) and attempted to connect via that - unsuccessfully.

The ISP told us that they do not see us attempting to connect.

The log file shows an attempt to create a dsl0->eth0 (or eth1) link then an "authentication failure" and "modem hangup".

I am using Yast with mostly default parameters and ifup to control the link. The ifconfig shows both eth0 and eth1 interfaces working properly, but no dsl0 interface.

At this point I am not really sure how to proceed. Any suggestions would be most welcome!

Thank you very much for your help.

The ethernet cards are:

eth0: Dell 82545GM Gigabit Ethernet Controller (on the motherboard)
eth1: Accton EN-1207D Fast Ethernet Adopter (installed PCI card)
