Hello all,

I was wondering if someone could answer some questions.

Prior Home Setup:
MS 2003 AD server with Domain Authentication. Using AD for user authentication and a simple batch file for auto mapping shares and set default printer. Its just my wife and i but im just crazy like that.

OpenSUSE:
I would like to have a similiar setup with SUSE. Swerdna has some fantastic tutorials on his site and i am grateful for his contributions. He mentions workgroup allot and from reading the SAMBA site they mention that creating an Active Directory server with SAMBA is not possible. Well, they say it is but requires some major tweaking which is out of my expertise.

Am i stuck with configuring a WORKGROUP at home? Is this how you all have your home networks setup? I would like to have user login authentication if possible much like windows server allows.

Thanks,

granade

Hi all,

openldap+samba+pdc

Is this what i need to set up in SUSE? Will this allow me to join my XP machine to a suse domain and use single sign on? Also, can i do this with yast or is it better thru a text editor? I have no experience with command line.

Thanks
