Hey everyone,
I am fairly new to linux, however, thanks to a new job I will be getting more and more fimiliar with Suse so I am trying to convert my existing IIS server over to Apache ran on a Virtual OpenSuse Linux box through a NAT connection. When I try to access the site on the linux box locally(Firefox on the image) I can see it, however, when I try to access it from the base machine I can ping the ip, however, when I try to access the site I get a cannot find page message, however, ping works, so I am pretty sure it has something to do with folder access level or .htaccess but I really don't know linux too well. Can anyone help? Here has been my thought process so far..... Firewall blocking port 80 requests: This can't be the case because on the local machine 192.168.xxx.xxx (the physical ip address) works so I assume this would be blocked since I am not using localhost. Nevermind it was the firewall |

Hi Partyk1d24, and WELCOME to Suse Forums
Do you mean you are running an Apache Virtual Server or that Apache is running under Suse in a virtual machine (like VMware)? I think it's the former. Also, is the "base machine" the machine running the Apache server or some other machine? Also, are you trying to look at the Apache server from outside the Lan that contains it (i.e. from the internet) or from inside the LAN. You can see I've gotten confused about the geography here (or is it morphology). Also, this might be useful background reading: HowTo: Configure a Linux Apache Web Server on Suse/openSUSE 10.x (including SSI and CGI) Swerdna |
