Thumbs down

hi,

I have been using opensuse on a Virtual system and finally decided to dual boot it on my laptop.

thus far, I got the display driver to install just fine as well as other drivers but the one driver I keep fighting is the LAN driver(both the wireless and the wired).

whenever I try to install my LAN driver I get the error that my kernel is too old(my kernel version by the way is 2.6.22.5-31-bigsmp i686)

now i know windows has a neat tool that allows you make update CDs from another system, and I'm hoping opensuse has a similar method I can use to update my kernel as well as other items.

now let me just further explain things in case you need further info.

the wired and wireless devices appear on the device list, i just cant get them to work

my wireless device appears correctly and basically my only problem is getting it to connect(i think its more of not knowing how to connect to my network in linux)

however my wired device is just considered a Ethernet device which as it states:

Quote:
Unable to connect network card because kernel device is not present.[/b]
i hope this makes sense to anyone and if you need any more information, please let me know

thanks

the Ethernet one.

the wireless one wont connect still, but again i think its my fault, since i have MAC filtering and such enabled for security-purposes.

it'll find the network, it just wont finish connecting, due to the MAC filter.

If it is stopping/hanging at 56%
Make sure your pass phrase is correct and I think it should be in hex decimal.
