Hello everybody.
I wanted to ask, is there some kind of firewall run by default on opensuse 10.3?

Both ktorrent and utorrent say to me that my ports are not properly forwarded.

When I was in XP or ubuntu, I would just forward the desired ports from my router and that was it.

Now I do the same thing and I'm told that they're closed.
Could anyone help, please?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Yes, by default openSUSE has a firewall, which closes most ports.

Its controlled/configured under: YAST > Security and Users > Firewall

Thanks!
Indeed my ports were firewalled, when I turned it off
they were ok.

Now, is there a way to say to my firewall
"when program X requires port XXXX, open it"?

I would prefer to do it manually for each program and not by UPnP..
Thanks in advance.

Why not just open the requisite ports? I could be wrong but isn't it better practice from a security POV to control what's getting through rather than to allow access on demand?
