Its been a while since I used a dial up modem but I believe there is a setup in YaST>Network Devices> Modem that allows you to use "stupid mode" for some ISP's that are using dated equipment.

Have you successfully logged in to this ISP with any other computer? It looks like an authentication problem. Maybe you are supposed to send username@something instead of username?

They seemed to rename it to Ignore Prompts.

hope that helps. Also check to see if your username and password are correct for any capitalization or syntax errors.

I am not versed in Virtual Private Networks. Do you have a ethernet card that hooks to a switch or router? If so and you can get an IP assigned either via DHCP or stable you can use the Network Devices> Network card to set up your box.

I would also suggest posting a separate question concerning how to connect through a VPN so someone with VPN background might see the Thread.

Back to the modem. Perhaps you should give the model of it and type of ISP that you are trying to connect with. Is the Firewall configured properly? And could you post the last connection attempt log after selecting Ignore Prompts in the Setup section?

Ok color me confused, your log shows Status as being connected. Perhaps IPv6 needs to be disabled, do this in YaST>System>Sysconfig editor>Desktop>KDE_use_IPV6 set to no.
