I had a bad system crash and had to reinstall OpenSUSE 10.2, but when I try to enter my static IP address, Gateway and subnet mask I am unable to connect to the Internet. I think the problem has to do with the Domain name. Currently it is set as user-local. I think this is what it was before the system crash, but now it doesn't seem to work. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello cwinward, first post: welcome here
Check in Yast --> network devices --> network card: that you still have fixed IP, and that routing contains the gateway, and that under the "Hostname and name server" button you have the IPs of the two name servers supplied by your Internet Service provider.
