I have an OpenSuse 10.2 machine which i was trying to add to a Windows 2003 Domain, I setup the IP address for the NIC and DNS etc, and i could see the domain, i could also see the OpenSuse machine from the windows server. At this point i tried to add the machine to the domain, it found the domain, and asked for a user account to access with, i put one in and all seemed ok, i then got an error about some things being in use and that i needed to reboot. After rebooting i now get "Authentication failed" for all logins i try. I have tried root, domain\domainadmin, domain\\domainadmin, domainadmin@domain, domainadmin.
I'm a newbie to Linux, but have played with it briefly in the past, i have reset the root password but get the same error. Does anyone have any ideas, i really don't want to reinstall. Thanks in advance Greg |

make sure that there is no domain selected on the logon screen - there should be a drop down box available on the logon screen which lets you choose your domain - make sure it is set to local.
you may have to click about on the login screen to get the box to show up. |
