Hi guys, I hope someone can help me. My problem is that I cannot connect to any yast repo. I have Suse 10.2 installed with XP and Vista. I can surf the web with firefox or konkeror, do anything even watch videos and download them, but I can't do any updates. Each time I open yast Installation Source I get the following messages:
Curl error for: http://www2.ati.com/suse/10.2/repodata/repomd.xml: Error code: Unrecognized error Error message: connect() timed out!
Curl error for: http://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/misc/suser-gu...directory.yast: Error code: Unrecognized error Error message: connect() timed out!
and same thing for all other Installation Sources (Suse, Packman, Guru, Ati). This has being going on for a while now.
I have a Modem Router that works fine on Windows XP o Vista doing updates in this same laptop. My sisters laptop has the same problem. Software updater never turns orange so I think I have some issue here. Each time I want to update I have to go to my ex-girl friends house to update my Suse 10.2 and it does connect so updates are donned. She is taking advantage of that.
Any Ideas what is going on and how can I fix this?
Thanks a lot!

You can get the correct repositories from the above links.

Unable to create installation source
from URL "http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/10.2/repo/oss/"
Details:
Unknown source type for http://download.opensuse.org/distrib...10.2/repo/oss/
Try again?
and same thing for the second one.
what is going on?

Try dropping the / from the end and see if that helps.

Any other ideas, probably my modem-router has something to do with all this? I can surf the web, watch videos but when it comes to create update sources or even if they are already in YAST (I created them in a friends house internet connection a couple of weeks a go) same problem: Yast can't connect to the server. Strange!!
Thanks a lot in advance.

I was having the same problem. In my case, i had forgotten my proxy settings were wrong, well, they were unappropriate for my current location to be more specific. Anyway, I eliminated the proxy and the url "http://suse.bifi.unizar.es/opensuse/distribution/10.2/repo/oss" worked just fine.

I had the same problem.

I solved it by disabling IPv6 - guess my router is not that fancy any more

I went in to the network devices in YaST and on my netword card I changed the IPv6 setting under advanced.

Then everything worked like a dream...

I had a similar problem with Firefox... Changed IPv6 to disabled in about:config and that works fine now too...

Cheers,

Anders
