Hi. I have spent many hours now trying to configure my wireless connection, but i can't seem to get get it to work.
I have googled and read tutorials but i can't find a solution. I get a confirmation that i am connected, receives an ip-adress. I can ping the router, but as soon as i try to ping, either an external ip or url, i get a "Network unreachable". I have spent way to much time on this now, please, could you give me a few pointers? |

Are you using NetworkManager or is your system configured for traditional networking (ie. ifup / ifdown) ?
If you're not using NM, I'm betting the problem is that Suse hasn't configured a default gateway for you. Without that, you can't travel outside of your own subnet (ie. beyond your router). Try running the command "route" and take a look at the output, if you don't have a line starting with "default" then you don't have a default gateway set up. I've seen this happen frequently in systems with both an ethernet and wireless card. If two interfaces are set to activate automatically, Suse doesn't assign a default gateway to either one. The way I've always worked around it is to set my ethernet interface to only start manually in Yast. Once that's done, the wireless connection always configures itself correctly. Assuming you have an ethernet port, check the settings to see if it's defaulted to start automatically or on link. If it is, set it to manual and then restart your wireless to see if that works. Hope this helps as a starting point... Cheers, KV |
