I started my quest looking for a server, because I am studying for the network+ (comptia) certification. I love this SUSE 10.3, but I am so new to linux, I am still learning how to spell it (G).
Can anyone suggest to me where to look to learn about the basics, such as vi and all? Thanks Scott |

Check out Unix Power Tools by O'Reilly. It's not quite aimed at the newbie, but if you first go through a beginner book (I used SUSE Linux by Chris Brown, also from O'Rielly) it should be managable. I found it enjoyable, and it covers the old standbys like vi, awk, sed, shell scripting, even PHP and Perl. All kinds of good stuff, written in a "almanac" format (+1000 pages of goodness!).
I don't know of a good beginner book that covers much of that stuff (vi and all), though I am sure it's out there |

Here's an internet help book on openSUSE 10.3 from Novell. There's an index and a search box on the left. I searced on "editor" and found this for vi: http://www.novell.com/documentation/opensu..._bash_edit.html
And here's the full index for openSUSE 10.3: http://www.novell.com/documentation/...103/index.html Swerdna |
