Is libffmpeg legal in the United States. If not, is there a way to recompile it so that offending code is removed?

Looks like it is a grey area where most distros fall on the side of it probably being illegal due to certain codecs.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FFmpeg#Legal_status You could probably compile from source with only the codecs you need that are GPL'd but I'm just guessing there. |
