hi guys, sorry if this is already discussed, but i did a brief search, found nothing, and cannot help asking...

what does this mean?

given certain linkage between suse and micro$oft, will suse license under MPL or MRL pls?

are we going to see micro$oft codes overwhelmed by pure open source codes, or the other way around?

Means Microsoft came up with a new license.

What linkage is there, none. At least not pertaining to development of code. And Novell can not relicense the many GPL'd and non-GPL'd software they are using under any other license. Only the code they own can they, which I highly doubt they would.

good to know all of these, frd.

will continue to enjoy suse then.

although by having MPL/MRL, technically MS is also partially (yes, if under MPL/MRL there turns out to be nothing, then partial only means 0%) open-source now, i would like to stay away.

btw, is MS font open-source? i remember seeing it amongst software update batches, i did not choose to install......

Well, no. It's not. Use bitstream if you want opensource fonts.

MS "partial" Open Source level would be zero They're doing a great job of talking out of both sides of their mouth, and Novell themselves have, despite their deal to work on interoperability, rebutted repeatedly many of Microsoft's claims Stick with SuSE and the other true Open Source OS's

You can install the MS TTFs without worry. They are not open source, but they are available to SUSE users legally. You are not breaking any law by using them.
