What Is Opensuse Based On?

I'm wondering what distro opensuse is based on if anything, I always thought fedora for some reason, but i haven't been able to find any clarifying answers on the internet. i know suse is one of the oldest distros out there, along with slackware, which is what makes me hesitant if its based on anything. and if not, are there any distros that are based on opensuse?

It was originally based of Slackware Linux

I believe OpenSuse is independant - i.e. not based on another distro.

As noted above, if you go back far enough, it was originally based on Slackware. It's been independently developed for so long after that, I'd support the "not based on another distro" opinion. It's certainly not like Mepis, where each release is a modded version of a corresponding release of Ubuntu.
