what book do you guys think is the holy grail
for linux 10.2 and above this is what im looking for in a single book A book from mid to pro level 1, solid reference 2, command line, scripts programming 3, text in a nut shell examples 4, text not to be long winded 5, more than three hundred pages 6, comes with a CD (or am i pushing it a bit) 7, a book i can grow into with time & experience 8, not a book with the best bits on the last chapter 9, text to be clear and concise 10, a book that cost much less than 80 bucks i would say im a faster learner but not a book worm. im more of a hands on "wreck it and learn" by results then do it all again until successful type of guy. once i mastered the "wreck it and learn" method then i normally turn to a book to provide me with a fuller understanding of the functions that im trying to do. there are tons of pdf's online but reading from the screen for more than 20 minutes is not fun and i loose interest especially reading manuals. thanks B2B |

The best Linux book I've found so far is The Linux Administration Handbook. This is a really well written, comprehensive guide for running a Linux system, and is generally distro-agnostic, but includes special mention of SUSE, RedHat/Fedora, Debian and Ubuntu.
I haven't been too excited about any of the SUSE-specific books I've read. Usually too general for anyone with much experience. |
