do i have to download full 10.2 or run live updates from 10.0?
there should be a patch CD, but where?

The 10.2 installation DVD or CDs can also update. Updates have to be done by booting with the installation media, they can't be done in-situ.

You can probably get by with the first 3 CDs.

True, but only if the OP takes the default install and doesn't add any packages.

I just did an install on my laptop.

When I registered, one of the sites added as a yast-source was "Patches".
I don't think I got that when I did my desktop registration.

I checked it; but, it was empty as of now...

the PATCH CD UPDATE in the YaST should work without a FULL CD, right? That's to say, there should be a patch CD somewhere like i saw on SUSE (not open...) site.
