I have been doing some backups in preperation for a clean install of 9.3
I noticed that my home directory was 5.6gb and tar.gz down to 4.8. I scoured my home directory to find where the large amounts of data are and couldn't find them. I then backed up my essential data like .mozilla, .thunderbird, .kde and my other document folders which came to about 1.2 gb. I can't work out why I have another 4gb+ which largely consists of config files etc. There must be a major cache or somehting that I'm missing  .... any clues? |

Do a file search using the gui. Add the option to search by file size from the pull down list of available options. Make the search value at least 1000 kilobytes(or larger if you prefer). Perform a search on your home directory.
