I recently re-installed Suse 9.2 (due to the kernel panic) and when I did, my bootsplash changed from the normal green suse screen with the lizard, to a screen that says-
"Suse Linux Open Exchange Server" and it also says "Powered by United Linux". All the boot details scroll by now, and it scrolls a message by about the, boot splash status on consol 0 changed to on, many different times on boot up. How can I change this please back to the default bootsplash screen, because this **** bootsplash takes forever to load. TIA, Rockstar |

Use the sysconfig editor in Yast (Under System) - you can change the bootsplash there - change it to "SUSE"

I am going nutz
I have spent all day trying to change my boot splashes.. I have been into YaST, no luck or way to change there. You can turn it off from YaST. So I went into the bootsplah folder. I tried to edit the theme. The SuSE theme is the only one there. I replaced and deleted the old splashes. I added mine exp: silent-800x640.jpg I replaced all of them. But it continues to load the old splash screens. I had no problem with this in Mandrake. But both 8.1 and 9.2 SuSE are drving me crazy.. Any way to manualy change them. Thanks, B |

a1phaomega,
I promise I have tried that.. It will not change anything. The only option that seems to work from there is turning it off. I had this same problem in 8.1. I log in as root and hunt down the theme folder and tried to change it manualy from there. But that doesnt even work. In YaST it gives you information where the theme folder is. Been there, deleted it and they still show up..... So my only conclusion is that they have been moved to a secret location.. Thansk for the help tho, any chance you know were the other folder is?? Thanks, B h34r:

Don't you have to
mkinitrd or lilo -v after a change tho? |

a1phaomega, buddy pal.. Knew you knew the answer...
That worked for me.. Here is my screen shot of it. Its a mix between the bootscreen that came with it and some walpaper that is stuck around in the system. I modified the 2 in gimp.. Take a look.. It works with the original animation on the boot up. The circle animations goes around tux and it displays what the system is doing.. ![]() Here is the 1280x1024 version I use. http://www.geocities.com/bigbandit20...-1280x1024.jpg Thanks again.. a1phaomega,
You are THE MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you SO much, this had been driving me crazy for over a week. @ Bandit, so did you just replace the original silent wallpaper with this one you made? I really like it a lot. If you don't mind, I will try to get it to work on my 2 systems Looking forward to your reply dude ![]() Rockstar |
