Keith, in your experience, what happens when you do an adjacent upgrade (say 9.1 to 9.2) and you already have Gnome 2.8 installed?. Does the upgrade try to put Gnome 2.6 on or does it leave it alone?. Same question for KDE 3.3, if it is already installed? My understanding is that 9.2 features Gnome 2.6 and KDE 3.3.
From what I have read, having Gnome 2.8 on 9.1 really messes up the upgrade. (And this makes sense.) You have to remove 2.8 before you upgrade. Of course afterwards, you will have Gnome 2.6. Since 9.2 has KDE 3.3 and many of us already have KDE 3.3 on 9.1, that should be less of an issue. I'm planning on just doing a clean install when 9.2 gets here...or just sticking with my up to date 9.1.

Let me get this straight........I can do a completely fresh install with the upgrade edition of suse 9.2 pro?????? And that the standard edition (more expensive) only has the added benefits of admin and user manuals?

So both versions come with 5 cds and 2 dvds?

You do a completely fresh install with any of the 'Upgrade' versions of Windows and you get the same thing. The ONLY difference between full and upgrade versions of Windows is that the upgrade does a check for a previous version before installing files.

So....

Hmm. You can get it on BitTorrent? Wow.

Would that even be illegal? Since SuSE is open source, isn't it perfectly legal to make and distribute copies of SuSE linux, as long as you don't sell them? And, isn't BitTorrent just another way to distribute? So, shouldn't SuSE be perfectly legal to share and download on BitTorrent?

Calm down. If you like SuSE, pay for it. If you don't, don't bother getting up in arms over the fact that they charge for the same thing you could get for free (minus packaging, commercial applications and support). I buy SuSE not because I can't get it for free, but because I want to pay back the company that puts a lot of work into making my favorite distribution of Linux.

And, of course, you get customer support.

Does anyone know if Best Buy, Circuit City sell the upgrade. I bought the full version of 9.1 at Best Buy, but I can't remember if they had the upgrade too.
