Really? Wow. Okey. I do have basically everything I need to back up in one spot. Most of my stuff is on an external HD, so I'm perfectly safe there. Just about the only thing that would be mildly difficult to backup would be my FireFox bookmarks.

Thanks for the advice.

Pi Man,

Outside of my bookmarks I think that I may have the same problem.

Somewhere along the line I copied them to a file and and also parked them in Cyberspace.
I can't remeber how I retreived them or the format that I saved them in to my saved docs to open in Firefox.

If you need a save place to park stuff I can send you a GMail invite. It's Google's new e-mail system. The Gb of free storage is pretty good. PM me.

To save your firefox bookmarks, go to Bookmarks -> Manage Bookmarks. Then under file choose export. It will create a .html file that can be imported the same way after the upgrade or new install.

It's alright, Adler. I can store the bookmarks on my external hard drive (on which I have about 8 GB free) and I have very little on my internal HD (other than the OS, home folder, and some installed programs which I can easily reinstall if I back up the rpms and tar balls, which are in my home folder.) So I shouldn't have a problem.

And, thanks for the tip, 69_rs_ss. That will come in very handy.

You can get it using bit torrent. I do not know about the legality of this method so beware.

The full version of 9.2 and the update version of 9.2 are identical except for printed manuals and packaging. Aside from that there is no functional difference. Either will do an upgrade or a clean install (without proof of purchase or a previously installed version, as applicable).

I might try an adjacent upgrade, 9.0 to 9.1, 9.1 to 9.2, but for anything else you'd most likely want a clean install.

Keith, in your experience, what happens when you do an adjacent upgrade (say 9.1 to 9.2) and you already have Gnome 2.8 installed?. Does the upgrade try to put Gnome 2.6 on or does it leave it alone?. Same question for KDE 3.3, if it is already installed? My understanding is that 9.2 features Gnome 2.6 and KDE 3.3.

What is the difference of CD & DVD versions?

is the cd Version only 32bit, but the DVD including both 32 & 64bits?
Is there anything other on the DVD version that isnt included on the CD version of SuSE?

Well for 9.1 there was a double sided DVD (32bit on one side and
64 bit on the other side). The 5 CDs had just the 32 bit version).

I have read in some places that it isn't a good idea to upgrade
when there are more than 2 version differences - as the jump can
be too big. Causing more problems than anything.

I believe the other DVD has the source code.
