i think you mean GNOME. GNOME is a window manager and desktop environment. KDE is also a window manager and desktop environment. just that kde is all built in. with GNOME you can change window managers. in KDE you cant. GMONE looks like this http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/teams/marke...html/index.html
to log into GNOME you log out of KDE. when you get to the login screen there are two (2) buttons bellow your login name and password. one button is to shutdown. the other allows you to choose other window managers/desktop environments. enjoy

You can install Gnome (note spelling) using YaST.
It's a bit of a religious issue with some folks...the difference between Gnome and KDE. I use both. Here's my take. Gnome is faster than KDE at launching applications and getting to the desktop after login. It is not as well integrated as KDE, and not as easily customizable via the GUI. But since KDE apps will run in Gnome and Gnome/GTK apps will run in KDE (the default install loads enough of Gnome to make this possible), it's really a matter of preference. Most KDE users have at least one Gnome/GTK app they prefer to KDE versions (Gaim over Kopete, or Evolution over Kontact, or Mozilla/Firefox over Konqueror, to name some common examples), and vice versa. I tend to use KDE apps in KDE and Gnome/GTK apps in Gnome. I spend about 70% of my time in KDE, and the rest in Gnome. A few months ago it was the other way around, and is subject to change at any time.
