Just installed open suse 10.3 on my sony vaio pcg-tr2a laptop. The problem is the display only shows on part of the screen. I can see the entire desktop except starting from the top left it only covers about 3/4 of the of the screen both horizontally and vertically. The rest of the screen is just empty black and white spaces. I've tried playing around with display sizes and resolutions but it remains the same no matter what i change. Anyone got any ideas on what might be causing this?

Laptop specs are intel 1ghz cpu, 512mb ram, 40gb hdd, intel 855 graphics, 10.6" screen 1280x768 native resolution.

Assuming you can see a full login screen and you can log in, login as root on a console login.
Run xorgconfig, setting the X system mouse, keyboard, language, monitor, screen size, and graphics chips.
Even if you only have a 3/4 screen the same directions apply.
