Hello everybody,

I've installed opensuse 10.3 on my older IBM laptop with 40 GB hard drive. It is a dual boot system with windows XP. I would like to delete the windows partition now, and assign that space to Linux. How can I "easily" do that. Can anyone help me? I would greatly appreciate.

Thanks in advance!

Open Yast --> System --> partitioner
Highlight the partition and either "delete" it or "edit" it. If you "edit" it you can "format" it to ext3 and use it in Linux. If you "delete" it you can then edit an adjacent partition and "expand" that. Depends of course on your relationship between existing partitions.

Thank you swerdna!
If I decide to delete it, how can I format it in ext3 and "use" it in Linux? I'm not that familiar with the linux system. I would like to expand both my home and my root partition into this new space if that is possible?

Thanks again for the reply!

Well it's really easy but there are traps for the new kidz to avoid. So describe the layout of the drive with NTFS on it in words, partition by partition. And also execute this command in a console and post the results back here. Then I'll give you a plan (I hope):
sudo /sbin/fdisk -l
That's the letter l, not the number 1
